The Citation M2 is the current-production successor to the CJ1 — same small light-jet footprint, modernized Garmin G3000 cockpit, slightly faster cruise (404 vs 389 kts). It's designed as the "entry" true-jet option: cheapest hourly rate of any pure-jet charter aircraft in the North American fleet.
Charter economics: expect empty-leg pricing $3,500–$7,000 for regional flights under 1,500 nm. For 4-5 people splitting a charter, this can be the closest private aviation gets to commercial coach pricing on the same route.
