Sagrada Familia has been under construction since 1882 and — here's the thing everyone undersells — it's actually one of the most extraordinary buildings on earth right now, before completion. The interior at midday is a forest of colored light. The exterior facades are three entirely different architectural styles depending on which side you approach.
Tower access is the booking decision most visitors get wrong. The Nativity tower gives you views down the old Barcelona streets and is the original Gaudí-era construction. The Passion tower gives you views toward Montjuïc and the sea. You can only pick one. Most first-timers pick Nativity; returning visitors go Passion for the different angle.
Book for 10 AM or 3 PM slots — morning light is better for exterior photos, afternoon for the stained-glass interior glow. Avoid noon (direct sun washes out the colored light effect).
