Dubai's desert safari is the most-booked activity in the UAE, and most visitors only do it once — so do it right. There are 3 tiers:
**Budget ($40-60)**: big-group camps, basic buffet, 60 people in the dining tent. Avoid unless purely budget-driven. **Standard ($60-100, this one)**: smaller camps, quality BBQ, live shows, proper dune bashing in 4x4. The sweet spot. **Private/Luxury ($150-400)**: private camp setup, Wagyu BBQ, no strangers, often-better dune-bashing (empty quarter routes).
The dune bashing (45 min in a Land Cruiser) is the highlight AND the part that makes some people carsick. Take Dramamine an hour before pickup if you're susceptible. The camels are docile, the sandboarding is hokey but fun, the belly dance show is a 30-minute cultural staple.
The food: genuinely good at standard tier. Expect grilled lamb, chicken shawarma, hummus, tabbouleh, dates. Vegetarian options are plentiful.
